Brazil National Interconnected System(Sistema Interligado Nacional) Electricity Consumption Report: June Sees 1.7% Year-on-Year Increase to 77.055 MWmed, with Climate Factors as Core Growth Driver
According to the Monthly Load Report (Boletim Mensal de Carga) released by the National Electric System Operator(Operador Nacional do Sistema Elétrico) (ONS, Operador Nacional do Sistema Elétrico), the electricity consumption of the National Interconnected System(Sistema Interligado Nacional) (SIN, Sistema Interligado Nacional) in June 2025 increased by 1.7% year-on-year, with an average load reaching 77.055 MWmed. The accumulated growth rate over 12 months reached 3.2%, maintaining an expansionary pace.
The specific growth was primarily driven by the South(Sul) region (5.3%), North(Norte) region (4.9%), and North(Norte)east region (2.9%), while the South(Sul)east/Central-West subsystem also recorded an annual positive growth of 2.2%. This demand variation is closely related to climatic factors, including above-average precipitation and mild temperatures across most of the country, which significantly influenced consumption behavior.
To this end, the ONS continuously monitors these changes, aiming to ensure the efficient and secure operation of the national electric power system, thereby providing enhanced energy security for the entire population and production sectors.
