Brazil's electricity consumption growth, with 5.3% in the South(Sul) and 4.9% in the North(Norte) leading to regional differences, rose 1.7% in June and increased 3.2% year-on-year.
According to the Monthly Load Bulletin(Boletim Mensal de Carga) (Boletim Mensal de Carga) released by the National Electric System Operator(Operador Nacional do Sistema Elétrico) (Operador Nacional do Sistema Elétrico, ONS), the average load of the National Interconnected System(Sistema Interligado Nacional) (Sistema Interligado Nacional, SIN) in June 2025 reached 77,055 MW, representing a year-on-year increase of 1.7% and a cumulative growth of 3.2% over 12 months, maintaining a continuous expansion trend.
This growth was primarily driven by the South(Sul) region (5.3%), North(Norte) region (4.9%), and North(Norte)east region (2.9%), while the South(Sul)east/Central-West subsystem also recorded an annual increase of 2.2%. Furthermore, the demand variation was directly linked to climatic factors, including above-average precipitation and mild temperatures across most of the country in June, which influenced consumption patterns.
Continuous monitoring of these changes aims to ensure the efficient and secure operation of the national power system, thereby enhancing overall energy security levels. Regions such as Sul, Norte, and Nordeste stood out in the expansion. This mechanism ensures the stability of electricity supply for the entire population and productive sectors through real-time data tracking.
