Great Power Debuts Advanced Energy Storage Solutions at RE+ 2024, Showcasing Ultra Series and Magna Cabinets

At this year’s RE+ exhibition—North America’s premier solar and energy storage gathering—over 40,000 energy experts from more than 120 countries converged in California from September 10 to 12. Among the highlights, Great Power unveiled a comprehensive suite of new energy storage solutions for 2024, tailored specifically for international markets.

As large-scale energy storage (utility energy storage system) remains the dominant force in the U.S. energy market, the demand has seen explosive growth. According to EIA data, U.S. large-scale storage capacity soared by 201% year-on-year in the first half of 2024, with demand showing no signs of slowing. Addressing these global market needs, Great Power introduced its Ultra series battery cells and Magna energy storage cabinets, both earning high praise from international clients.

With safety a top priority, Great Power has taken proactive measures to address the rise in safety incidents involving ternary lithium storage systems. The Ultra Series cells feature Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) materials combined with a unique gel flame-retardant electrolyte, specifically designed to prevent thermal runaway and reduce fire risks from physical damage. These cells also incorporate advanced high-temperature-resistant safety separators to prevent short circuits, while additional internal safety mechanisms, such as explosion-proof valves, provide an added layer of fire and explosion protection, ensuring industry-leading safety standards.

Currently, this proprietary gel flame-retardant electrolyte is utilized in Great Power’s 320 Ultra, 590 Ultra, and sodium-ion battery lines, with plans for further expansion across other battery types.

Great Power’s sodium-ion battery technology also captured attention at RE+. As one of the pioneers in sodium-ion battery development, Great Power has successfully commercialized these batteries. The sodium-ion battery, featuring layered oxide technology, offers an energy density of up to 150Wh/kg along with outstanding safety. Several sodium-ion projects are already operational, showcasing its practicality and reliability.

This year’s exhibition also saw the debut of Great Power’s latest ESS products—the Magna 418 Outdoor Energy Storage Cabinet and the Ultra Max 5000 Energy Storage Container. These innovations maximize storage capacity within minimal space, making them highly adaptable for utility scale, commercial and industrial applications. The modular designs, complete with IP55 protection ratings, facilitate easy transportation and installation, positioning these products as optimal solutions for high-demand settings.

To date, Great Power’s energy storage systems have reached clients in over 50 countries and regions. Recognized by BloombergNEF in 2024 as a Tier 1 global energy storage manufacturer, Great Power continues to assert its leadership in the industry.

With nine production bases worldwide and a network of offices in key locations, including the U.S., Germany, Singapore, Indonesia, and Japan, Great Power has built an extensive, localized support system for its global clients. By delivering safe and reliable energy storage products worldwide, Great Power reaffirms its commitment to a sustainable future, making high-quality clean energy more accessible across the globe.
