At its Business Tuesday event, SAPI (Slovak Association of the Industry) centered its focus on the integration of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) within the decarbonization process of Slovakia's industrial sector. It emphasized the phased adoption of solar and wind technologies to reduce carbon emissions and drive the green transformation of industry. The event aimed to enhance competitiveness through policy support, ensure economic feasibility, and strictly limit the expansion of high-carbon emission industries to align with EU decarbonization objectives.

The event delved into technological pathways, including solar PV deployment, wind energy systems, and energy storage solutions like pumped hydro and thermal storage systems, to meet industrial energy demands. Key actions involved establishing investment frameworks, with constraints including an estimated initial cost of approximately €50 million (requiring optimization via PPA electricity pricing to maintain economic viability). It also stressed the application of grid-forming technologies to mitigate curtailment risks. Discussions further covered P2P (peer-to-peer) energy trading and adherence to the DNSH (Do No Significant Harm) principle, ensuring the transformation process does not compromise environmental sustainability.

Industry feedback was positive. Representatives from Slovak companies stressed that projects in Just Transition regions (such as traditional industrial zones) could receive policy bonus points. The activation mechanism promotes implementation through tax incentives like the PTC (Production Tax Credit). Feedback also called for enhanced regional cooperation to accelerate decarbonization and bolster overall industrial resilience.
